Who is Bri McNamara?

I’m a Queer visual artist (my pronouns are They/Them) with a wide array of knowledge in design and multimedia. Primarily, my focus is within video and animation production. I’ve aided in the creation of: concept art, UX development, and layouts. Throughout my career, projects have demanded I problem solve design challenges from clients, finding the best fit for the required needs.

For me, design is at its best when it is versatile. If I can find the interesting thread; the narrative, I want to work on that project. My interest in storytelling stems from creating imaginary worlds as a child, participating in immersive games, and now creating animations and videos as a professional. Alongside all this, I also seek to help others learn, especially in dynamic ways which embrace a full range of multimedia. Humans are wired to engage with stories in a variety of ways, both logically and visually, and it is in finding those different ways that can make a project that much more successful. A visual demonstration, a connection to data, audio and visual content, and oftentimes a placement in the when, where, and why are driving factors for the most enduring projects.

When not working on projects, you can find me outdoors, trying to make the best cup of coffee possible, or reading a book from my ever-existent reading list.

Why ‘The Briness‘?

I received the nickname ‘The Briness,’ or shortened to ‘Briness,’ in college. It essentially translates to “the essence of Bri; pure Bri-ness” and was used to not just connotate my name but all of me. It is a nickname that encompasses my multifaceted approach to life. My loyalty, competitiveness, and sometimes silly and easy-going attitude help me be a well-rounded individual. It’s this unique approach to defining me from the outside that has also helped me be confident with myself inside.

It’s kind of like a nickname and a mantra, all rolled into one.
